Objective

Many successful organisations, including world class companies have failed and disappeared as a result of appointing top managers who were inappropriate for their roles. The master class addresses the issues of how job challenge varies between roles and how important it is that capability should match job challenge.

To respond to a rapidly changing global environment, both design of organisations and development of people need to have a high priority to ensure that the leadership pipeline is full of the right leaders for the right time.

This two-day EIIL Masterclass ™ workshop will help participants to better understand the strategic value of well designed organisations, which enable people to maximise their potential, and will identify common transferrable good practices evident in effective talent management and succession planning systems. Participants will work with a research-based model that describes job challenge and people’s capabilities using common concepts, definitions and metrics, enabling them to analyse work and assess people systematically.

Key Benefits

The workshop will provide participants with an introduction to organisational design and people development; work challenge and capability; a framework for understanding capability and potential, that may or may not be linked to current performance, and an effective process for the identification and development of talent over the short, medium and long term.

Interactions with experienced line and Human Resources managers will provide participants with an insight into a variety of approaches to talent management and succession planning, their common characteristics, and the frequently encountered obstacles to their success.

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is particularly suited to engineers and technologists with sev- en to twelve years of post-graduate industrial experience and some early su- pervisory experience, including those in project management roles.

The workshop will also benefit managers from other disciplines, particularly HR, who aspire to influence the way in which organisations work, roles are designed or people are managed now and in the future. It will also be of interest to anyone who is interested in self development and who aspires to develop others now or in the future

The workshop will be conducted in English. A good working knowledge of English is a pre-requisite to effective participation in this EIIL Masterclass™ workshop.
